Dense fog affected the operations at North China ports, including Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan, in late March. JOC reported that vessels have been experiencing delays due to the backlog even though the dense fog began to dissipate in April.
We reviewed the average vessel waiting times at the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan over the past seven weeks. The results show that in the first week of April, vessels arriving at the port of Shanghai experienced waiting times of 45.7 hours on average, compared to around 21 hours on average over the previous three weeks. The vessel waiting times at Shanghai reduced to 37.9 hours in the second week of April.
For Ningbo-Zhoushan, the vessel waiting time started to increase from the middle of March to the first week of April, reaching 23.2 hours on average, compared to around 8 hours in early March. Again, the vessel waiting time at Ningbo-Zhoushan reduced to 12.8 hours in the second week of April.
