In mid-January, tugboat crews started strikes at the eastern ports of Australia and now they have expanded the strikes to other ports in the country. According to reports, the major container ports, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Fremantle, and Adelaide, are affected and vessels are experiencing delays.
The Gulf Agency Company (GAC) reported that the Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers (AIMPE) union planned another wave of work stoppages on January 18 - 20 at various ports. We are monitoring the situation and its impact on the schedules of vessels heading to the container ports.
